InteractiveTheatre.org is changing it's discussion forum!

Over the years of running this site, there has been a couple of different attempts at creating an atmosphere where readers could discuss issues about theatre, education, and sexual assault. Some have worked better than others, although none have really been "just right." After some thought, I decided that it was worth making another change, but in doing so, broadening the scope a bit.

When I've been involved in interactive theatre, especially when it involved the heavy stuff like rape and sexual assault, it was important that, as a group, we did stuff other than our work - it allowed us to work better together, but more importantly kept us sane. The idea behind this broadening of scope is much the same: the people who work in this area have a very wide range of beliefs, and there's no reason that can't be shared as well. So I've set up a different (almost old-school) type of discussion system for this, and a couple of other sites I also run. Hopefully you'll find it helpful, like this site, as well as find some fun stuff to talk about that has nothing to do with assault or theatre.

For those who want to skip the introduction, the address for the site is: http://heretic.interactivetheatre.org:2000 (you can also go to heretic.interactivetheatre.org without the port number, and find a link to it).

A brief introduction of Citadel:

Citadel is an old Bulletin Board System that's been updated to work with the internet, and is one of the most advanced discussion systems available. Where traditional web discussion boards are divided into "boards" and "threads", Citadel is divided into Floors and Rooms. Floors are loose groupings of rooms that span a certain topic. For example, there could be a floor for leisure activities, renaissance festivals, and of course one on Interactive Theatre. Rooms are where the conversations take place, but instead of being threaded, the conversation is linear, so it seems more like a group of people talking together, changing the subject, etc. The nice thing about Citadel is that anyone can create a room, so there's no limit on discussion.

Sound confusing, it's not. It's actually much simpler to read than the old threaded system, and a much more natural method of communcation. Registration is required to read the messages, but no personal information is required - all you need (and all you are asked for) is a name/pseudonym and a password.

I hope you find this system helpful and fun.
